After growing from a small company into one of south Texas’ leading civil contractors, it’s appropriate to call Triple B Services an American success story. The company believes that label will apply well into the future, as well, thanks to its dedication to quality, strong reputation and depth of services.
Based in Huffman, Texas, Triple B Services has completed numerous successful projects for public and private customers throughout Harris County, Texas, and the surrounding area. Today, the company boasts more than 300 employees and annual revenues around $70 million, but it didn’t start out that way. “Triple B was established in March 1996 by Charles Walter Burke [and his sons] Brian Keith Burke and Kevin Del Burke,” the company says. “Hence, the three ‘Bs’ in Triple B. The company is privately held, with each partner possessing one-third ownership.”
Shortly after Triple B Services was established, the company received its first projects from private landowners. These early projects included land clearing, stabilization and various site work improvements. By August, Triple B Services was in a position to hire its first employee, and by the end of its first year, it had two staff members and revenue around $100,000.
A Growing Company
Things have changed since those humble beginnings, and today Triple B Services says it is “recognized as a leading civil general contractor within its market.” It now has 37 crews available and typically works on up to 50 projects at a time, many of them within the Houston metropolitan area. Its projects range from public utility work to site work for private developers. The company says that this level of success is no accident. “Much of the credit for our success has to go to our employees,”?Brian Keith Burke said in a recent statement. “We expect a full day’s work for a full day’s pay, and they deliver that and more. They’re part of the blessings that have made us what we are.”
“The partners of Triple B Services LLP attribute this American success story to a combination of top-shelf personnel, a dedicated old-fashioned work ethic and a satisfied client base that [has] promptly fulfilled their contractual obligations,” according to the company. Examples of these satisfied clients include the city of Pearland, Texas, which recently thanked Triple B Services for its work on a $1.8 million sanitary sewer trunk line project.
“It is one of the largest sanitary sewer collection line projects the city of Pearland has attempted,” City Engineer John Hargrove said in a letter to the company that was posted on Triple B Services’ website. “[Triple B Services’] demonstrated successful efforts at installing the line in bad ground conditions and finishing ahead of schedule at an economical price are much appreciated by the city.”
Triple B Services also has received praise from Jones & Carter Inc., a consulting engineering firm in Houston that collaborated with Triple B Services on the construction of a sanitary sewer force main for the Emerald Forest Utility District in Houston. This project not only faced challenges created by nature, but also involved some tight restrictions while working on a church property. “[Triple B Services] went beyond the call of duty, working during adverse weather conditions in effort to complete the sanitary force main,” Jones & Carter said in a letter posted to Triple B Services’ website. “[Triple B Services’] efforts to complete work on the Trinity Church property within the restrictions placed on the district by easement documents exemplifies [its] management and construction skills.”
Because most of the company’s projects are hard-bid, Triple B?Services says it needs equipment that it knows won’t let it down and get the job done as quickly as possible. “We have to have machinery that’s going to perform in every application we put it in without costing us downtime,”?the company said in a recent statement for supplier Waukesha-Pierce Industries.
Looking Ahead
Although the company is focused on success in the present, that doesn’t mean Triple B Services doesn’t think about the future. The company says it has partnered with several local colleges and universities on an initiative called “Project Graduation.” According to the company, the program is aimed at encouraging the next generation of professionals to enter the underground construction field.
Triple B Services visits the campuses of its partner schools to show students the benefits of entering the underground construction industry. The company also awards scholarships to students who commit to getting a degree in the field. With this initiative underway and the company continuing to build on its reputation in the industry, Triple B Services says it has every reason to be optimistic about the future.
“With continued diligence and dedication to servicing our client base, we hope to continue to grow our firm for many years into the future,” the company says.
